Field Trip, Heffner

This was taken from a Mimosa tree.

This is called a Mimosa Pudica, which is a sensitive plant. I really like that in this one you can see all the fine details of the flower itself as well as the stem and the buds.

This is called a brain cactus or a Stenocactus multicostatus. I thought that decreasing the brightness would help in seeing the detail of the cactus itself.

I really enjoyed the colors of this one as well as the fine details of the orchid.

I was working with a very shallow depth of field in these photos to get the fine details of the plants and I think that helped in this one a lot to be able to see the details in the ring as well as the details on the plant. I also like that the red in the plant brought out the rose gold of the ring. The plant is called a Flat flowered aloe.

Texture in Black and White

I changed this to black and white and then brought some of the color back in

I played with the clarity on this image to make it softer

Inside of a terrarium from above. Dutch Plant Farms.

Dutch Plant Farms. I don't know the name of this plant.

Dutch Plant Farms. Again, I don't know what plant this is.

Waterfall inside of Dutch Plant Farms. I didn't use a tripod, but I propped it up on the side of the railing and held very still. I used the sponge tool to saturate the water more to bring out the reflections.

Really Bumpy Pumpkin. Dutch Plant Farms.

Field Trip - Belella

I explored different perspectives with this photo because I didn't want to just photograph straight on through the opening but wanted instead to put the opening slightly off to the side.

Here I played around with the whites and vibrance to get the lines in the flower to look more explosive, expanding over a greater area of the petals.

Since the plant itself felt rustic, I edited the photo to look less vibrant to capitalize on the whites and greens of the photo against the light wood background.

I took many photos of this plant trying to get a photo where your eyes would follow the line of the branch in the front of the photo. I also was careful to only get the plant filling the space of the photo as I didn't want to see the rest of the greenhouse in the background.

Botanical, Bean

Just a bee doing his thing, I played with the vibrance
I bumped up the whites to make it look more reflective

This flower was fickle, but I amped up the clarity to make it look a little more in focus

I used manual white balance for this

I used saturation and high clarity to make this look ..interesting...
